Week 337 - 6 years & 52 weeks

 8/23-8/29
  • Harper is doing some good with food. Hardly eating purée (at this point I’m just trying to get rid of it).  She loved avocado, eggs, toast, and tomato.
  • When I’m holding Harper & Andy comes in to smooch her cheeks she’s gets all embarrassed & blushes & big smiles & tries to hide it’s adorable.
  • Harper started clapping again. She gets so proud of herself.
  • We started sleep training Friday night during dad & Lyla sleep over.  Night 1 took 30 mins for her to fall asleep.  Night 2 started off great ended horribly. She woke up at midnight & it took 1 hr 15 mins & 7 times checking on her till she finally fell asleep.  I hate having to do it and miss my snuggles but I also need my sleep.
  • Harper loves anything not hers. Remotes, iPads, phones, water bottles..
  • Harper started following lyla around the house & climbing the stairs.. we are totally procrastinating putting up gates.. seems like we just took them down.
  • Lyla got new books from her book club that were adorable. Dragon Post & muddle.  She’s getting more confident with reading I just need to not jump in so fast.  I made up a challenge where I made a grocery list and she had to read the list, go shopping to find my items around the house, and bring me the correct $$ and she did awesome.
  • We spend a lot of time watching A for Adley. Which I’m cool with because it’s where I get all my tips, challenges, and imaginative play ideas.
  • I upgraded my car to a 2020 CRV.
  • Lyla now is out of the 5 point harness and using a seat belt with her car seat. (Stop growing)
  • Definitely still challenging with Lyla.. Lots of sass.. She is getting better at using her words to talk things out which blows my mind at times.
  • Still home and Covid is still a thing but we did finally started to all feel better this week. Less tissues used.
  • Now that I’m dipping my toes out in public it is making me want more.. it’s such a change to not be able to run to the store anymore.. you really that too plan it out & order things online & trust reviews vs actually seeing things in person.
  • Lyla & I walked/run 3 miles! She did pretty good overall. Once this Covid thing is over I want to sign up for races like color runs with her

Week 336 - 6 years & 51 weeks

 8/16-8/22

  • Lyla this weekend swam almost the entire time without her life jacket!
  • The leaves are already starting to change colors. Fall is coming. Temps even cooled down and the sun isn’t as hot.
  • Basement is coming along. I’m still indecisive about the furniture down there. So many options & stuff to bring down there.
  • Harper tried broccoli & quinoa & liked it. She’s pretty good about eating foods and is eating much better than Lyla did at that age or even me today.
  • Harper enjoys trying to climb stairs & loves being chased or peek a boo.
  • She seems to still prefer to crawl vs walk around with us holding her up.  She will try to walk with her toy once in a while.
  • Lyla is getting much better at reading! She has a couple books she will read on her own & or she will read every other page of a book with me.  Just need to catch her earlier than when she’s tired.
  • Lyla has been pushing buttons lately by saying things like “too bad” or “oh well” and not hearing when we say to stop.

Week 335 - 6 years & 50 weeks

 8/9-8/15
  • Happy 7th wedding anniversary to us!
  • Harper turns 11 months
  • Girls start back at daycare this week. Harper 2 days a week & Lyla 1 day.  Was a hard decision & hopefully one we don’t regret. It was very hard to swallow paying. $325 a week for a daycare spot and not be using it so we figured let’s give it a try. They both loved it.  I knew Lyla would be fine but I thought Harper would have struggled & she didn’t.
  • Harper still isn’t sleeping great.
  • This week Lyla and I ventured out into public & saw my cousins at the pool. It was odd & awesome to see other people in person vs video camera.  Lyla loves seeing her second cousins again.  Later that week they rented a water slide bounce house and we visited again.
  • By Thursday night Lyla started getting sick.  Come Friday the doctors had Lyla hey Covid tested.  They take a long q tip and stick it pretty far up your nose for several seconds.  Didn’t seem to bother her.  Saturday results came back negative (phew) but still was annoyed that our very first week out in public & we all get sick (moms the last of course).
  • We learned the 2021 school year will be a hybrid approach with the kids every other week going into school or taking classes at home (remote).  To start we are remote until TBD. Once her phase hits then she will go back into in person classes.
  • It’s wild it’s now August & we are still dealing with this virus & stay at home orders.  The death counts have dropped for our area but it’s not over. Every day you still hear about people passing away from it.  It’s crazy because no one still knows how it started, how it’s really transmitted, symptoms are the same as allergies or a common cold, no clue long term effects.   They are rushing a vaccine that I’m not comfortable with.  Some states are forcing it be mandatory. It’s hardly been tested for impacts and you want me to try it? No way!!
