Welcome to the world Harper Belle Brach

9/13

  • At 8:30am I had an OB appointment where I was still 3cm, she swept my membranes for a 3rd time and we were scheduling an induction for the following Tuesday.  They also had me come back at 11:45 for an ultrasound to make sure the baby had enough fluid to make it to Tuesday.
  • Andy decided not to come with me to wrap up things at work and I was feeling normal after having my membranes swept.
  • On the way to the appointment I started to get strong Braxton-Hicks but didn’t really think much about it. During the ultrasound I kept getting contractions back to back to the point where  they sent me to get checked before going back home.  Sure enough  I was in labor. I went from 3 to 5cm and the dr said I needed to head to the hospital. Never in a million years did I expect to drive myself in active labor to the hospital.
  • I actually got into an argument with valet because I needed my keys to give to my mom because she needed my car for Lyla.
  • I check myself into We II around 12:45 and shortly after Andy arrives.  They pretty quick got me upstairs to a labor room which was nice however my labor stalled at 6cm for several hours.
  • To get things moving they gave me an epidural and broke my water.  Even then my water didn’t fully break for a bit and after putting me in a seated position in the bed. After that things started to pick up.
  • Around 7:30ish after we said goodnight to Lyla I noticed my contractions started to get intense and very uncomfortable.  We called for the Dr to take a look to fix it and at the same time the Ob said it got myself to 8cm.
  • Shortly after the dr barley fixed my epidural it was time to push already.
  • I pushed for 45 mins and had a very different (better) birthing experience than with Lyla. Poor Andy says I was a lot more vocal this time.
  • At 9:13pm on 9/13 Harper Belle Brach entered the world.
  • She was 8lbs 12.3 oz & 22inches long. She was tiny compared to Lyla.
  • We finally got to our postpartum room around midnight.  We didn’t get much sleep because they were checking Harpers sugar levels due to her size almost every hour.
  • Next morning Grandpa, Gramma, Auntie Katie, Lyla, great gram Deaton & great grandpa Deaton, and Nanna all visited. Lyla was soo excited to meet her little sister.
  • That night I sent Andy home to be with Lyla and managed  Harper all by myself.
  • By Sunday afternoon we were cleared to go home!
Going home!
